Mercado San Miguel...F-ing great

April 7th, 2012

We stumbled upon this gem of a market in Spain.  I may have mentioned earlier how obsessed the Spaniards are with ham.  This market is a monument to that.  It felt very much like a place a place a weird host from one of the food shows would go to, and it was awesome.

Even before we walked in, there was intrigue.  Remember this picture:

The market itself is about 45 booths that have every kind of food you would want to eat, and every kind of booze you'd want to drink.  Since the Euro means even less to me than the pound, we went hog...literally.  Here are some photos of the market and the food therein
Fruits of the sea

Shrinkage
Atkins 2.0...pickles as bread
Rabbits...an international sex symbol
I'm not into sweets, but these looked good
A cake advertising Bud Ice in Spain
traditional Spanish Easter tart.  It was like French toast on crack...or, Latin Toast

This is the spoon my nana would hit me with if she saw how long I let my hair get

Check out the mannequins on the balcony...they changed clothes.  that's how long we were eating in the market
