Museo Nacional del Prado

Francisco Goya:  Romantic painter and purveyor of a line of malted beverages that are
especially popular at the Stop & Shop in SouthBay Plaza
Last day in Spain we hit the Prado museum.  At this point, honestly, I was a bit museum'd out (or hungover depending on how honest you want to be when you read this).  They don't let you bring in a camera, so not much to offer in terms of photos, but I'll make some observations on what we saw:

Main foyer has a series of statues that represent different muses, which is fitting for a museum.  Did you know there were actual muses for things as specific as Pantomime, Geometry, Drunk Voice mails, Flamenco, Woodwind, and Epic Poetry.  I only made 2 of those up

Lets mix in some examples of the art, which I made note of and had to retrieve from the interwebs

Catholic Charity.  Be very careful the next time your Vatican leaning friends invite to a fundraiser
Other joke I passed on:  Charlie Murphy, the milk has gone bad!

Peter Paul Rubens (its unclear if Pee-Wee Herman was named after him, or vice versa) was a very famous Flemish painter who liked himself a biggish gal.  The lightbulb goes off immediately when you see his works hanging on the wall and you're like "Oh...that's where the term Rubenesque came from!"  See how much I;m growing?  One thing I did not learn:  What country are you from if your Flemish?  I still don't know.  But you don't want to learn everything at once.  Life is long as far as you know.

I laughed to myself thinking about the kid on the field trip just glued to these works.
The chubby chaser switch flips on early...

don't read too much into it.

Finally, this painting was really impressive.  It takes up a whole room, and the figures are larger than life size...literally
